On July 3rd, an important anniversary for the history of the Balsamic Vinegar of Modena was celebrated: 10 years have passed since the European registration as a Protected Geographical Indication, in recognition of the value of this historic product of the province of Modena.
For the occasion, a celebration was held at the Modena Chamber of Commerce, introduced by a speech by Mariangela Grosoli, President of the Consortium for Protection of Balsamic Vinegar of Modena. Many institutional figures took part in the event, including the President of the Province of Modena Gian Domenico Tomei, the President of the Chamber of Commerce Giuseppe Molinari and the Chief Executive Officer and General Manager of CSQA Piero Bonato.
“Ten years of protection. Three centuries of history.” With these words we could summarize the main theme of the night, in which entrepreneurs and institutions have stressed the long commitment and the battles that led to the valorisation of the product as an emblem of the Italian food sector in the world market. That had positive reflections for the entire Balsamic Vinegar sector, as well as for the territory and the tradition of the city of Modena. A protection which is fundamental for Balsamic Vinegar, as recalled by the General Manger of the Consortium Federico Desimoni, Over the last years, the institution has already put an end to some attempts to illegitimate uses of the balsamic denomination by foreign companies.
We are proud to remember the announcement we made in our newsletter on July 3rd, 2009, when the fabulous black gold of our land was recognized as a PGI product! After fifteen years, a long and tormented journey had finally come to an end. Our company had always been on the front line, both in terms of valorisation and legal protection of the Balsamic Vinegar.
